Today, I stepped outside my comfort zone and took Eli to a school friend's party. I didn't know any of the moms there. Some I'd said hello to once or twice. Another I recognized from the park two months ago. (When did I become shy? or just a hermit, maybe.) So, I stepped out on a limb and made some conversation with other moms. We talked about kids, mini vans, naps, fits, etc. And it was so much fun! And....someone even asked for my number! She typed in "Eli's mom." It made me smile - I'm proud to be Eli's mom.
Speaking of moms, I sometimes read this blog. Amazing lady with amazing things to say. Here is one paragraph I read tonight:
And wow, I'm seeing more and more that EVERY mom has her hard hard stuff to deal with. Some people's lives look all lovely and nice and we get that “grass is greener” thing going on – but dig a little deepers and it seems you'll always find there's plenty of hard stuff going on – kids with disabilities, divorce, depression, cancer, you name it. I find new heroes at each Retreat.Moms are such amazingly resilient and compassionate people. And they're always so darn helpful. At every Retreat, they're always pitching in to help prep and clean up food – even when we tell them this is their time to relax.
I like moms. A lot. And I'm so proud to be one of them.

Glad you had a good time. And you should be proud because you're a good mom!!
Playgroups and other things like that are really good for me. I need to talk to other moms dealing with similar things. Makes me feel normal. :)
Don't you love reading blogs that lift you up and inspire you to be better? There is so much that seems to drag us down and have us feeling like we don't measure up--I think being genuine is an amazing attribute to possess. Thanks for the post!
